Membership Information and Rules
Membership is yearly for the financial year. The financial year of the society starts on 01. April of each year and ends on 31. March of the next year.
There are several types of memberships.
The most relevant are:
Basic Support Member: NZ$1 per year* It shows your general support of the society’s goals* You will receive the occasional club email newsletters to keep you informed* It gives you voting rights at the AGM
Financial Member: NZ$30 per year* It shows you are a more serious supporter of the society’s goals* You will receive the occasional club email newsletters to keep you informed* It gives you voting rights at the AGM* It entitles you to free climbing gear hire from Ngarua Caves
Payment for “Financial Member” fees
* The society only accepts direct credit bank transfer payments. Fees can’t be paid in cash.
The society’s bank account details are:Account name: Via Ferrata Aotearoa IncorporatedAccount number: 02-0692-0098335-000 * If you initially sign up for membership between 01. April and 30. September the fee to pay is NZ$30.
* If you initially sign up for membership between 01. October and 31. March the fee to pay for the remainder of the year is NZ$15.
* If you have been a member in the past financial year (ending 31. March) then the fee for the next financial year is due to pay until 30. April. You will receive an email reminder in April to pay your yearly fee. Eligibility for free gear hire Only financial members that have actually paid their fee are eligible for free gear hire.
In June the society will check which members have paid their fees. Members that have paid will be added to a list for the Ngarua Caves staff that tells them who is eligible for free gear hire.
